Fashion Sample Sale

3 Things You Didn’t Know About Sample Sales

  1. You Don’t Have To Be a Size 2 to Find Clothing

Once upon a time, a sample sale actually was a “sample” sale. Sample sales were a way for retailers to sell their items which were used in advanced showings, fashion shows, and presentations for interested buyers. These samples were often very limited in sizes and quantities due to the purpose the items served. They are also usually gently worn. But for 80% off, most people didn’t care.

Present day sample sales are often much larger in both sizes and selection, as they have transformed into a way for retailers to “get rid of” their merchandise at the end of the season. The Parker sample which is wrapping up now has both “samples” as well as regular merchandise. The prices vary accordingly.

  2. Prices Drop Towards the End of the Sale (WARNING- RISKY BUSINESS)

A lot of vendors will heavily discount their prices towards the end of the sale. Bandier (260 Sample Sale on their Fifth Ave location) for example, is having their last day TODAY, and further reduced their prices earlier this week. (By the way they still have a ton of amazing merchandise.) This can be an advantage to those who get excited when they hear about a sale, but somehow don’t remember about it until the last day. Although prices drop even more, I would still recommend staying in the know and getting there first, in order to get the cream of the crop when it comes to inventory.

ShopDrop has added a feature which allows you to add sample sales directly from the app to your calendar. You can also share sales with your friends- because if you forget, hopefully you’ve got at least one friend who won’t 😉

  3. Designer Brands for Zara Prices

Before getting onboard with ShopDrop, I myself had never attended a sample sale. I always imagined that discounted brands could only be so cheap, right? Wrong. Yes, there are certain sample sales that are on the pricier end, but that all depends on which brand it is. Makes sense, right? At the sample sales I’ve attended, we’ve been able to create entire outfits for around $100. Not to mention the quality of the clothing is significantly better than anything you’re buying at Zara, Express or H&M. Our goal here at ShopDrop is to upgrade the average shopper from mass fashion to designer clothing for only a small price difference.
